Aundreta N. Wright was born in Florida and currently resides in Mercerville, New Jersey. She received a BA from Florida A&M University, MA from Montclair University, and an AA in art history from Mercer County Community College. Wright retired as an art educator after 44 years of service in the Trenton and Savannah School Systems. She has been involved in many volunteer efforts and worked extensively with many civic organizations. She is currently an adjunct professor at Mercer County Community College. There have been many facets to her artistic career: craypas drawings of florals, large hand constructed ceramic pots, tiles, paintings, prints, and mixed media collages. The subject matter in her work is as varied as her interests are in life. Her exhibitions have been numerous. Among them are AT&T Technologies Corporation, Nabisco Galleries, New Jersey State Museum, Rutgers University, Atlanta Life Insurance Company, African-American Art Competition, Bethune-Cookman College, TAWA in Russia, The Morris Museum, ETS, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Her works are included in the collections of the private and public sector.

“I am an artist, known primarily for my visual work. Little is known of my work in clay. Working with clay is a tactile experience. It allows me to disconnect from the rigors of daily life. It is a wonderful creative way to relieve stress. This is the second piece in my series of large coil-built pots. I am particularly fond of this piece because of the glazing assistance from James Colavita and Mike Welliver. They were colleagues and outstanding ceramists at Mercer County Community College. It was with their aid that I was able to perfect the spills and glaze on this piece.”
